My routine

Hello pretties!

I’ve had a lot of questions on IG about my workout routine. I currently have 2 jobs, one as a receptionist, as well as working as a waitress. Trying to save money but I am a shocker with shopping! Because I do shift work, my hours change from week to week, therefore I have to switch up my workout routine to fit it into my busy wee schedule! This is what my last weeks schedule looked like.

Monday
AM- Fasted cardio- 6km run
PM- Legs routine at gym

Tuesday
PM- Bike to gym, shoulders and back routine

Wednesday
AM- Fasted cardio

Thursday
PM- Chest routine at gym, HIIT session on treadmill

Friday
PM- Bi’s and tri’s routine at gym

Saturday
AM- Fasted cardio

Sunday
Active rest!

And there you have it! This in particular is suited to me, seeing huge physical benefits! My workouts are short and sharp, as mostly stick to 3 sets of 12 reps of each exercise. I’m usually in and out of the gym in under an hour, which is the way I like it!

I’ll post each routine tomorrow, as I’m currently at work and can’t remember each one off by heart (don’t tell my boss!!). Don’t be afraid to ask questions. I love that I can be somewhat of a help on your journey!

The most magical time of year

Won’t ya look at that! How the year has flown by. Its December already, which for me is my absolute FAVOURITE holiday. For us in New Zealand, it means a big break from study, fun in the sun, time with friends and family, and of course Christmas! Heres me as a little nipper :)

For me December is another fresh month, with the opportunity to challenge myself and set new goals! November was an awesome month for me, where I stayed on track, ultimately leaning out through consistent clean eating and exercise. I now feel happy to start maintaing my current weight, although I haven’t quite come up with a plan of attack yet! Any advice out there would be muchly appreciated :)

Also thought I’d share one of my yummy clean and healthy lunches! I’m a sucker for chicken, always looking for new and exiting ways to add it to my meals. Have come across a few ‘mushroom burgers’ on IG, so decided to try my own!

I simply baked two portabello mushrooms in the oven, then fried off some chicken breast in a pan with moroccan seasoning. Stuffed the chicken inside the mushrooms, and finished the dish off with a fresh garden salad and lite cottage cheese. Way too easy! Perfectly clean, healthy, fresh and satisfying!

Hope you are all getting in the festive spirit

A face to the name

Just thought I’d share with you all (if anyone is reading this!) where I started, and where I am now. The first picture was taken in March this year, where I’d say I was at my heaviest of 57kg, which is quite chubby for my 163cm stature! I was incredibly unhappy with my appearance, as you can tell by my body language. I didn’t quite know how to carry myself, and like any other emotional eater, I ate my feelings, often binging. After binging, I would beat myself up, going on to starve for a day, before binging once again. It was a viscous cycle, and my eating habits were becoming out of control!

I saw the light though! Fed up with my appearance, and especially the way I felt, I decided to kick my old habits, and diet cycles, immersing myself in a lifestyle that is long lasting and maintainable. I was a sucker for fad diets, but eating clean and exercising is definitely not one of those phases. After 3 months, I’ve completely changed my outlook to food, as my knowledge continues to grow on how I can better myself each day. I literally LOVE what I eat and what I do, and I believe its reflected in my appearance.

Hope that give you all a bit of insight where I’ve come from, and where I continue to head.

Why hello there!

Won’t ya look at that, I’ve created a blog! Its something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, but have been putting it off as I literally didn’t really know where to start. But I’ve started... right here, right now. So watch out blogging world!

My name is Jorja, and I’m 19 years old living down in the corner of the world, in a wee country called New Zealand. I’ve just finished my second year at University, where I study sport and exercise science, along with screen and media studies. I hope to either branch off into sports journalism once I’ve finished my degree, or go on to study postgrad of sports nutrition. Right now though I’m just focussing on one day at a time! (the future scares me a wee bit).

In June this year, I was scrolling through my favorite app Instagram, and came across girls my age, who had complete profiles dedicated to a healthy lifestyle. Their posts consisted of ‘clean meals’, workout routines, and all round inspiring messages to do with health and wellbeing. At the time I was tipping the scales at the heaviest I’ve ever been, after a decent year on the University diet! (Processed carbs, takeaways and lets not forget alcohol!!) I was sooooo inspired, as I’ve always been interested in sports and exercise, but never dabbled in the nutrition side.

I decided enough was enough. I was sick of feeling self conscious, low on energy, and lets face it, unhappy. I created my own fitness account fat_girl_slim_ and got stuck into new habits straight away. I starting posting progress pictures, my meals, my workouts and everyday struggles. I slowly but surely started to see the positive effect of my new lifestyle, completely turning my eating habits around focussing on good whole clean foods. I’ve also turned into a self proclaimed gym addict!

I’ve now lost 15kgs (33lbs), and have gained soooo much more!!! Confidence, energy, and a LIFE worth living. I’ve created this blog to further share my journey, where I simply plan on becoming the best version of myself that is humanly possible. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions!

Enjoy,
J xo
